My Favorite Berry-Green Anti-Oxidant Smoothie

This is my all-time favorite, berry-green, anti-oxidant, go-to smoothie that I drink several days each week for an added boost of protein. Like all my smoothie recipes, it has balanced macronutrients–the perfect combination of lean protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. Balancing helps to regulate your blood sugar, keeping you full for hours, curbing cravings and stabilizing your energy.

My Favorite Berry-Green Anti-oxidant smoothie is full of phytonutrients and antioxidants from the veggies and berries. I typically buy large containers of organic mixed baby greens and freeze half just so I have them for smoothies. Collagen peptides are a form of protein and is known to help your hair, skin, nails and joints so a great inclusion, but purely optional!

What to Buy:

  • 1 cup Unsweetened almond milk or favorite alternative
  • 1 cup Mixed greens, fresh or frozen
  • ⅓ cup Mixed berries
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Flaxseed meal
  • 2 teaspoons Natural, non-caloric sweetener of choice, like MonkSweet+
  • 5 Ice cubes
  • ½ scoop Collagen Peptides
  • 1 scoop Whey vanilla protein powder

 What to Do:

  1. Pour almond milk into blender.
  2. Add greens, berries, cinnamon, flaxseed meal, sweetener and ice cubes.
  3. Blend on high until smooth.
  4. Add collagen peptides and protein powders, blend just until incorporated.

You can:

  • Make this smoothie the night before, just add ice and blend it in the morning.
  • Drink it during your commute to work.
  • Enjoy half for a pre-workout meal and the other half post workout.
  • Freeze it into pops for a treat
  • Add a multi-vitamin boost (yes, a horse pill will get pulverized in your blender!)
  • Have it for an anytime meal. Smoothies are not just for breakfast anymore.
